You should play this mod is makes the guns 1,000,000 times better. No more spraying and hoping one of the bullets will eventually go straight. Ultra accurate guns and controlling the recoil is the name of the game in LURK. It's tense and satisfying.

When I first played the vanilla game I couldn't agree more but either I'm so used to it (as in the game in general) I don't notice the things that bug people or the mod has improved it so much the problems don't exist anymore.

i tend to avoid games that need a mod to be functional and playable... not worth my time. i purchased the first 2 STALKER games ages ago after being suckered into all the rabid fanboy hype... and found it boring and frustrating in equal measure. i don't want to download 4.0Gb of mods to have a 'playable' experience. rather play a game that's actually finished and bug-free, tbh.

3rd one doesn't need mods, but it doesn't have the same atmosphere as the first.

There is a lot of trudging slowly about in Stalker. At first is just feels a bit crap really. But eventually it draws you in. Whether it's being completely on edge the first time you explore X18 or investigating the big empty concrete buildings that are no longer occupied. You just really feel something. Knowing the whole thing is based on a real place that very bad things happened in just makes the feeling grow. Exploring the buildings in and around the Jupiter Plant in Call of Pripyat felt unexplainably terrifying. Spoiler (highlight to read):
Despite the fact it turns out they are completely empty. And then there's just appreciating the really detailed dilapidated buildings they modelled, like the big train hangar in Garbage.

It's the only game I've reinstalled several times just because I wanted to go to these places again.

Oh well. It takes time and patience. I'm enjoying playing through again with this mod. You never know what's going to happen as well which helps for repeat playthroughs. Most of the time things will be the same as they were last time but just as you think you know what's going to happen next, it doesn't.

Yeah I found the first to be pretty atmospheric, and clear sky being there with it. I think what took a lot of the atmosphere out for the third one was the fact that you could sleep through the nights, which is what I did.
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Im a fucking pussy. I hate the night in STALKER. Cant see shit.

btw, beyond that door there is only a few medkits, anti-rads and grenades. nothing too fancy. or, at least, thats what was in the vanilla version of the game.

Don't remember if I asked that before, but does the Lurk mod work with the Steam version?

Anybody who has had to restart DiRT 2 agrees with the unskippable intro hatred.

You have to sit through a very long intro cut scene, and then play an entire race before you can change any options or even play multiplayer.
