X3 is good, but the learning curve is insane.
Is x3 similar to sins of a solar empire? I have never heard of X3

I'm playing the CB of Heroes of Newarth, DOTA STYLE BABY LOL!
Not at all. Sins is a stategy game, where as X3 is more of an RPG of sorts, with a heavy basis on market economy.trex1210 wrote:

oh ok. I am going to see if I can get a copy because it looks fun.r2zoo wrote:

Tons of fun, but a steep as hell learning curve. Combat is quick and frenetic, and you can be dead in seconds if you dont pay attention.trex1210 wrote:

It is sex, but the first few hours (might be the first two days, dunno) are hard as fuck. Even if you take the "easy" start.krazed wrote:

now if you'll excuse me I need to go fap, and then find my install disc
Your goal is to grind your way up from a hawker to a full blown mogul with hundreds of factories and an armada of ships that could destroy civilisations!
But the learning curve is very steep. And controls are clumsy.
If you take the easy start, you at least have a freighter, a small combat vessel (both with good gear) and 100000 Credits to start with. It still takes days until you plant your first factory. But it´s very satisfactory to see it grow from one factory to a complex of 10s or 100s of buildings. And combat is really challenging.
Make sure you install the Bonus Pack too: http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3/bonus_en.php
Many great features added for free!
This is what I did last night:
6 fabs
Up to ten
the spidery web of supply pipes up close
2 crystalfabs are needed to turn it into a self-sufficient complex, a pure moneymakah !
____________
If you need any help on it I´ll be glad to be of service. Took me a massive research time and forums questionnaire to get into it, even though I played it´s predecessors.
If there´s enough interest and feedback I might even open a thread about it. Just holla at me, fellow traders! I wish you a good profit

X3 really needs a joy stick tbh. Tried to play it with a mouse and space combat was impossible.
That bonus pack is for reunionSisco10 wrote:

Yeah, definately get a joystick.
And try X2 first if you can, less steep learning curve and you get the backstory to X3.

If its as hardcore as you guys say then make a thread because I well most likely have a ton of questions. Sucks though I have to wait for it to arrive. My buddy gave me his copy and he lives across country.

I love free weekends.
A little Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway.
My mistake I told my men to move to the enemy position instead of suppress them. So I had to cover them with 8 bullets. They survived and I got this epic screen shot.
