There was a free version a while ago not sure about now.
I used to play this very addictive and fun to play though!
May have to reacquire it

Edit: You can download the "free" trial version from the downloads section on their site, but it has a level limit on it, you have to pay to unlock it.

Great game indeed. Get a mod though, native expansion is almost a must.
