Posted a screenshot of M&B earlier in the Skyrim thread to point out that horse combat is indeed doable. For some reason, my graphics were set really low. This fixed things a bit and made it brighter, but I'll have to restart the game for others to take effect. For a low-budget title, it's still good enough, and the great combat system makes me ignore shiny helmets anyway.
