Thief is outdated, but it has been proven before that age doesn't kill a good game. Thief III was the 'new game' at one point, but the general consensus was that Thief 2 was the better release, thanks to the incredibly irritating small maps and frequent loading points. The haunted orphanage was T3's saving grace for many people.
The loss of Looking Glass Studios was a tragedy. Thief 4 would be nice, but it's going to take a pro team to pull it off. In my opinion, all three games were worthwhile, so it will be difficult to mess up 4 if they at least stick to the point
Wish studios like Looking Glass would stop dying after a few good releases.
