BF2S Forums [L4D] Ragequitting

Good mechanics, good map design, fair learning curbs. I dunno, everything L4D doesn't have.

Really I just want to crack shots at L4D because I haven't enjoyed a game made by valve properly since DoD Source and that went to shit with the orange box update.

There's this massive limit though. When you're pinned by a zombie there is literally nothing you can do. Skill only gets you so far in a game like that. The learning curb is only as high as you want it to be as numbers tend to beat any mechanics you learn.

Yeah, not just them though. I play TF2 on a well known and popular Australian server which has developed a steam group named after it and a clan named after the server. Great bunch to play with for laughs.

So I disagree there.

The game is designed to put you to situations where it's impossible to not get pounced on. If you were to solo through them you'd be at the mercy of a random element, the director to hopefully not give you a bad combo of zombies. I don't doubt that L4D soloing takes skill (I did the expert campaigns with bots up until the finales as they're utterly useless at that point). My point is that skill is always overshadowed by sheer numbers. No amount of skill can get you up from a pounce but an 8 year old with a right mouse button can. The game is designed in such a way that it doesn't reward you or give incentive to be with teammates, it just punishes you if you aren't by having rigid unfun mechanics.

The unfun aspects of both games outnumber the mildly fun ones. I also don't play games to talk to people, I just want to play.

ohhhh that person.  i faintly remember her, she must've sucked.

I wanted to turn this thread into a discussion about how the whole ubisoft deal week has been a waste of time for me since I either owned all the games they put on sale or didn't even think they were worth the price at half off (like prince of persia).

And FarCry 2 which was the worst deal/game by far.

The prices were an absolute joke:

US: $14.99
UK: £17.49 (= $25.45)
Europe: €24.99 (= $34.00)

And the game itself is just terrible too.
