Peter Molyneux, head of Microsoft's Lionhead studio, has nominated Sony's LittleBigPlanet as the most important creative innovation of 2008, in C&binet's review of the creative economy in 2008.

C&binet – the Creative and Business International Network – is a forum for business and creative leaders to come together, and includes Microsoft's J Allard, Channel 4's Andy Duncan and Spencer Hyman of Last.fm among its ambassadors.

"LittleBigPlanet has outstanding creative vision. It’s from a British start-up studio and is one of the defining titles on Japan's Sony PS3," said Molyneux.

He didn't said game, he said most important innovation.  So, that includes everything.

Doesn't change the fact that you're the only one who bought it.

Most creative innovation does not mean it was a good game.

Never said that. Yes LBP was innovative. I never played it so I can't really say if it was good or not. I'm just saying that certain words mean certain things. Because something is new doesn't mean it is good.

innovation - something new or different
good - satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree

In this case Molyneux, the mind behind Fable II, means the game is good.

Ok well since your going to read into the man's words I'll read into his actions.

He didn't go around nominating it for GOTY every chance he had. He didn't get angry over it's lack of sales or picks for GOTY.

I'll read into his words also. He said it was a defining title for the PS3. Fable 2 came out for the X Box 360. He could be saying with his last line that the PS3 is a total failure based on this one game's sales.

How do you how many copies will LBP sell over the years to come?  It already sold almost 2 million copies.  And sales mean shit.  Valkyria Chronicles is excellent an it sold shit.

I don't, neither do you. Lets not play the let's try to predicate the future game. Last time I checked though companies base everything on sales. I'm pretty sure if something doesn't sale much whatever company that made it won't make another one after that.

These threads are as boring as the game. So I've been told, I'm not dumb enough to play it. Or buy it.

I liked it for said reason, it's innovation.  But, personally, I don't have attention span to spend 5+ hours to create a semi-decent level, nor do I really want too.

TBH, the game's a love-hate sort of deal.

Creative doesn't mean "good"; since when was the art of being creative or original an inherently awesome thing?

Shitting on a plate and covering it in vaseline then cryogenically preserving it for 1,000 years with a note to future humans saying "Fuck you!" is 'creative' and original thinking. Similarly (and just as outrageously), massively overhyping a game that burns out its own fuel and becomes vapidly boring within 15 minutes- with the only lasting-lulzy entertainment being that stupid fucking arm-waving crap - is "original" and 'creative' too.

Hitler's solution to deal with the Jews was original, within a historical context.
Osama Bin Laden's idea to blow up the WTC wasn't original but it was still a creative innovation the way he went about it, a nice artistic change I feel.

... So yeah, this article pretty much cements it in my mind that Little Big Planet is the coming of the games Messiah, Jews everywhere should be crying with joy.
