MP: CS:S tbh. BF2 is also up on the list just for hitreg.

But srsly, not played any awful games recently. I do my research before buying, 'cause I aint got much to spend.
Wtf, you just named all the best Single Player games.

Single Player games, CSS is a brilliant game still, and BF2 although I don't play now. Had 800 hours of brilliant fun.

Yeah these are the only SP games I've played. COD4 was probably the worst out of them.

I guess I don't "get" the appeal of CS:S. I played it a bit, I was okay but didn't find it engaging at all, rather repetitive.

I forgot a game in my last post so I deleted it by accident instead of editting it.

Worst Singleplayer:
Overlord - The idea is cool, but it's really a pretty lame game.

Worst Multiplayer:
CoD4 - Probably more of a biased selection since I was pretty excited for it. The planes and helis killed it and made the multiplayer pretty lame.
Halo (all of them) - It's cool when you're playing with friends in the same room, but other than that it's really boring. It's way too easy and most of the weapons suck. It doesn't help that the majority of the community is your typical gamer 12 year old.
TF2 - Probably the biggest disappointment for me. I absolutely LOVED the original TFC. In fact, I still play it fairly regularly. I have been playing it on and off for the past 5 years now and I still love it. This version seems like the game developers were thinking, "How can we take the best parts out of this game, kill some of the classes, and make it easier for people who suck?" Seriously, TFC to TF2 is like Quake to Halo. They latter lack the best aspects of the prior and make the game a hell of a lot easier.

SP:S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Where to start...Lets start with its terrible performence on a decent system, followed by its horrendous weapons that couldn't hide the broadside of a barn if you were inside of it.  Seriously spent 20 minutes trying to kill 1 Guy at 25ft, niether my mp5 ripoff or pistol could hit him, nor could he hit me.  Then theres the AI period. Walked into some sort of military area and camped on some stairs, ended up killing40 some odd guys who kept running up, not to mention 3/4 were the exact same character model.  Waste of hardrive space, game had potential but just fell flat on its face.

MP: DIPRIP (that Twisted Metal esque mod for HL2) - Garbage all around.  Vehicle control was crap, delayed by a few seconds in turning for some stupid reason, nasty lag, like 2 servers, not to mention the weapons sucking.  But of course this was a Steam sponsored mod, compared to the other that got put up, this one is just crap.

I'm going to have to say 'Hellgate: London' for both aspects. The single player campaign doesn't even have the old Riddler narrating it like in Diablo 2 In multiplayer, it was hard to store items, hard to mule items and hard to move items from player to player. If you didn't have a specific buddy who also played the game, you were screwed, unwilling to let go of that one awesome rifle that you just know you can upgrade to the max from noob get-go. There were no expansion packs, just boosters that you had to pay a monthly fee for. Finally, the game's shutting down, screwing even those people.

I have no problem with the rest of the mechanics; playing the damn thing was really fun, when you weren't Tetrising around in your storage.

===

As for disappointing single player campaign, I'm going to patch in WH40K: Dawn of War: Soulstorm. After playing Dark Crusade and listening to the various army bosses bickering back and forth at HQ fights, Soulstorm lacked personality.

Dark Crusade = epic dialogue win.

Other disappointments are Halo (the last parts) and Spore. I'll disagree with the above estimate of Overlord; I thought it was worthy.

Similar to this post, what's your worst experiences?

Worst Singleplayer: Without a doubt, it is unfortunately Red Alert 3. A very-very-very poor storyline, far too easy, far too short, unimaginative and overall a huge disappointment. Only the women kept me interested, but as far as a an actual campaign, it is the worst by a long-shot for me.

Worst Multiplayer: This is a tough one, as I haven't really had any bad MP games, but I would probably say SOF2 for its lack of any anti-cheat support and console commands that enabled left-in wallhacks to be used by any player
I'd have to disagree on both.
RA3: long enough to keep you occupied for at least a couple of days, depending on your speed. The storyline is recycled campiness from RA2, but if the cheeky outfits kept your interest, more power to you.
SoF2: Never really got into retail, but I had tons of fun in the demo.

I can think of much worse, aside from even HG:L.

worst SP: need for speed Pro street, followed by undercover;
Each time they make a NFS they leave behind some of the best things in previous versions, no Drift or drag races in undercover, then (pro street) you can't change your name and you're stuck with Ryan Cooper which the DJ turns it into the most annoying sounding name ever. As well as messing with the sun so we never have night time..

SP for undercover in brief: Drive, don't buy cars you get Free ones when story advances, Buy Bugatti Veryon as soon as possible, win game.

Worst MP: CSS. I'm pathetic at cs, could never play well.

Quite right, SOF2 was one of the best games at a Lan Party, I spent alot of time on it.

That 'stupid reason' was that its hard coded into the source engine that vehicle movement is all server side. So the mod teams had to just live with it and do the very best job they could. Given the circumstances they did incredibly well IMO.

The only problem with the mod is the lack of servers. Get a server of decent ping and the turning lag is barely noticable.

SP: The Witcher. I'm so glad i didn't buy this game. I got through about an hour and felt like killing myself.

Honourable Mentions: SOF2, DoW: Soulstorm (mostly for the massive disappointment i felt after enjoying Dark Crusade so much), Gears of War PC (It may have had potential but after wiping 2 of my save games at about 75% through because of bad programming, i lost my patience), COD 2/5 (They both just suck hard)

MP:  CS, Source or original. Always hated CS, it never grabbed me and all attempts to play it since it's release have left me disappointed.

Honourable Mentions: ET:QW *ugh*, any Final Fantasy that had MP, what a complete waste of time implementing MP in an FF game.

Actually yeah Foxx, I forgot about The Witcher. I torrented the game before it was officially released because it was balls-deep in hype, christ... I uninstalled it and regretted the waste of my (free) bandwidth- it was that bad! It was reviewed pretty well by critics though, I guess it was just one of those crack-hardcore-RPG-nerd titles that flew straight over my head.

Thankfully.

Worst SP: CoD5.
I dunno what killed it for me. The blatant ripoff of Cod4, the annoying russian guy who kept telling screaming at me the location of a tank I had already killed, or the fact that unless YOU ran foward, nothing would get done. Though I must admit, the end US mission was funny as hell. It was the first time I had ever felt like Rambo in a game - infinite health, belt fed machinegun being fired from the hip, violence galore.... I would run into a room, spraying from the hip, and seeing as it took all of one shot to dismember someone, the room was quickly filled with limbs flying everywhere. Seemed like a wasted opportunity, what could have been a dramatic representation of an important battle was reduced to a cartoon.
Halo should get a mention too. Both 1 and 2 start off well, but once the flood comes along, they just become boring and repetitive corridor shooters.

MP: CSS.
The round system was pretty retarded. If you got killed first off, you had to sit and wait and watch everyone else have fun. And if the last person on each side was camping? I hope you got a good book nearby. It's hard for noob to "break in", because every time you die, you have to stop playing for a while and it really breaks the immersion of it. I think this it what made BF2 appeal to me: if you die, you're back into the fight in 15 seconds - less if theres am medic nearby.
