technically everything is "ee chats" worthy discussion. it's a catch-all thread, ffs.

if you were dead serious about that rule then this entire thread would consist of one-post, going-nowhere images of what people have bought.

wow... interesting concept for a thread.

im doing a 16-week course next year (my final year) on 'The Idea of America in Literature & Philosophy'

the first week, as a brief, includes the reading of:

"Overview: the American Revolutionary War of the 1770s; the enlarged American Republic, origins of democracy, Madison and the Federalist papers; The Declaration of Independence (1776); The Articles of Confederation (1777); excerpts from The Federalist and anti-Federalist Papers; The Constitution of the United States (1787); The Bill of Rights (1789). You should be familiar with the Rorty and the Delbanco as well as having read Chapter 8 of Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America. Please read the handouts of the political documents available from the departmental office. In addition to these read the essay by Sunstein, ‘The Enlarged Republic – Then and Now’ – also a handout – this will not only give you a better understanding of the debate between the Federalists and anti-Federalists (‘Publius’ and ‘Brutus’) but also give you an idea of how throughout the course the texts and contexts in American literature and philosophy will be read alongside current critical issues. G. K. Chesterton wrote: "America is the only nation in the world that is founded on a creed. That creed is set forth with dogmatic and even theological lucidity in the Declaration of Independence. . . .". In this first seminar we will be discussing the important of the Declaration of Independence for America’s self-identity."

and after that it makes pit-stops at all sorts of cool places like modernism, abolitionism, transcendentalism, exceptionalism, vietnam/anti-war, feminism, american literary theory as an establishment etc. talking whitman through to stein through to cavell through to du bois through to everyone else in between. should be very interesting.

burberry is back up now. they make amazing outerware and coats.
I always loved their outerwear and some of their clothes as well, just been a little hesitant when hearing every other brit refer to it as a "chav brand". Burberry's always had a good image in Norway...

I think I found the perfect sweater today - 100% silk cable-patterned shawl-neck pullover, thick and comfy. I was just about to buy it when I noticed the silk was starting to wear out (you know when it starts to shed a lot of strands, the individual 'strings' start to tear - store didn't take care of it, looked as if it'd been lying on the floor for a while), and that was the last one they had in my size..

Must be last year's model or something because it doesn't exist on the RL site, and I can't for the life of me find it anywhere online Any idea where I can look for it? It kinda looked like this, but it was bigger, cable-patterned, had an off-white-ish colour and an extra button. The guy at the store wasn't much help.
