Alpha Protocol. Fun and irritating all at the same time.
Well, let me put it this way. It's closer to being worth $50 than what I've spent $60 for on other games. Ideally, it would be a $30 title, so if you want to be patient and wait for a sale, go ahead.10 hours, 13 minutes ago The 'What Did You Buy Today' thread is it worth the 49.99? -gs

Pretty much my only complaints that don't stop this from still being an A+ title:
1) The most irritating parts of the game are the timers on hacking, lockpicking and electronic bypassing. At first it isn't bad, but it becomes really annoying in short order. I'd just EMP the whole lot of it if I didn't want the extra XP perks.
2) Once you're on a ladder, you're glued. There's no way to drop off of it. Someone can walk up, spot you and start shooting lead into your ass without fear of retribution...until you climb the rest of the way up or climb down.
3) Takedowns are awesome, but there should be more environmental ones. Like jumping off a ledge (or a ladder) to land on a guard below you, instead of sneaking off the ledge, sneaking around to his backside and doing some fancy judo shit. Room entries are pretty much the same all around. Even if you can come in through the ceiling, there's no fancy way of taking everyone out like James Bond, except one at a time, so don't expect a Boondock Saints rope-around-your-ankle massacre.
4) Guards INSTANTLY recognize your footsteps for an enemy's, even if there's like 50 different guards marching around, yet they can ignore you at ludicrously short distances in bright light. So it pretty much means that if you're a stealth gamer, you're going to spend 99% of your time crabwalking around like Gollum. The stealth element in this game should have been revisited before release. Even Thief used light levels, and if this game does too, well, then there's no indication.

Also, sometimes you'll get locked on objects, or keep jogging past a ledge drop-off point while in a firefight you couldn't avoid because you got tired of crawling around and a guard heard your footsteps in the midst of 20 other guards and opened fire, or just get stuck in fisticuffs, unable to break away to dodge behind a column when the firing squad emerges. Games as old as Thief utilize shadows for cover, yet this game doesn't even seem to acknowledge it. The way upgrades work don't make sense at all. How come ammo netting takes up the same space as special gloves on an upgrade slot? Your 'information' panel takes forever to load, which sucks because you have to open it to access your map (yes, there is no minimap or quick map overlay). Savegames are regulated to checkpoints, making your save feature pretty much useless unless you want to save your story at various checkpoints throughout the game.eleven bravo wrote:

If you're paying someone's student loan for them I hope you're getting something in return.11 Bravo wrote:
