Well I didn't see that one coming, I was surprised by how tame Alonso was. I thought he would at least have gone on a banzai move on Petrov and made something happen, instead he seemed content with playing a waiting game, being ahead of Webber and seeing if Vettel fucks up and doesn't win. Things have fallen into his lap a few times this season, and I think he was getting comfortable with that idea. It was clearly evident. He should have been much more aggressive.

Hopefully Red Bull sort out their reliability problems for next year, that way the other teams and drivers will actually try during the race instead of seeing if the 2011 Red Bull RB7 falls apart.

Still, easily the best F1 season I've ever watched. 2011 should only be better with the double diffusers banned and the adjustable rear wings and KERS.

2011 is going to have 5 champions on the grid. Although it could have been 4, I just remembered how bad that Schumacher incident was early on in the race. That could have been nasty

I don't think he was tame per say, it just seemed that he could never even get close enough for a banzai type move in the first place. When Webber pitted early and came out behind Alguersuari that was pretty much it for Webber, but I don't understand why Ferrari pitted Alonso when they did.  Obviously they had to cover Webber, but it didn't look like Webber was catching them that quickly anyway. I was also a bit disappointed at Alonso having a go at Petrov after the flag too, as if Petrov had deliberately held him up.

At the end of the day, Vettel has had a fantastic season, and if he hadn't had so many mechanical failures, he would have absolutely destroyed everyone on the field.  He thoroughly deserves the championship, now roll on 2011

Yeah not gonna disagree with that, you look at the stats with his pole positions and how many laps he's led for the season, everyone says Webber deserved it but when you play the stats game instead of the emotional one, Vettel is hands down the champ.

From what I've seen, Vettel is a fantastic driver, but not so much a racer.  When he gets out in front and can just take off, he's nigh on untouchable.  Put him back in 5th-6th though, and he seems to struggle to get through the field effectively, ie not crashing into people.

There isn't anyone who can get through the field effectively. Especially through the top 6-8. Button was probably the most successful, but it was all strategy decisions rather then pure racing. As for everyone else it was more just waiting for the person ahead of you falling off the track. Vettel, was easily the fastest driver this year and a deserved winner.

Have you tried playing with no assists?

I can kick everyones arse by like 2s a lap in a Lotus with assists. With none (in heavy rain), I couldn't even turn a corner without spinning.

Final race was boring as hell. With the exception of Schumi crashing at the start...boring. Last years race at Abu Dhabi was as well: its a stunning track to look at, but thats it. Just like all of the other Tilke tracks, perhaps with the exception of Turkey which is actually a decent track.

I did it 6 seconds a lap in a Williams on most tracks on my first season with (most) assists on

Yeah it was really boring, no one was really passing.  Alonso kept going off and I was waiting for him to crash.  They need to change the final race to something that will put on a better show, that track is snoozeville.

That's why I dont like most of the new tracks that are being built, they just look like massive parking lots with zero personality.

So is Williams like a revolving door of GP2 champs or something. I can understand why they adopted Pastor and dropped Hulk though, Pastor brings in more sponsorship money and Williams have lost alot of big sponsors for 2011. He's still a GP2 champ, the money just makes it even easier for him to get a drive.

Jens...are you a particular fan of Maldonado or are you just happy in general, it's a shame that Hulk seems to be out of a (race) drive for 2011. I think Force India might offer him a glimpse of hope for a 2011 race drive, aside from that he'll probably end up as Mercedes test driver until Schumacher retires.

I was more of a Perez fan tbh, but it'll be fun to see the two of them battle it out yet again - which is the reason for my smile. I also generally enjoy seeing promotions from GP2 to F1 - keeps GP2 interesting tbh.

In hind-sight though, it is indeed sad to see Nico go..

Might aswell post this here. Some guy who's a big fan of Jason Plato, met him but didn't appreciate what happened. Starting ranting on some big forum called Pistonheads about it and Plato himself posts in the thread and sorts him out.

In November 2008 he was hit by a car while taking part in his own adventure challenge in Tasmania and suffered a major fracture of his right leg as well as a broken shoulder.

On that occasion, he also kept the shoulder injury from his team and the public.

Webber says in his book, 'Up Front - 2010, A Season To Remember': "On the Sunday morning before (the Japanese Grand Prix at) Suzuka, I got on a mountain bike for the first time since my accident in Tasmania at the end of 2008.
lol

But as he's says it's not what stopped him winning the championship.
