new card, its a geforce 6800gt agp card 256mb.

ok, i saw looking in the nvidia settings "tool" at the temperature it was at, it was showing:

GPU core temperature - 60
Ambient temperature - 43

i was going to buy 2 fans, one for the back to take warm air out, and one on the left pannel at the bottom front (if that makes sence lol) bringing cool fresh air in. sort of "wind tunnle" effect i gues. so what you guys think.... would this be good enough to kool everything inside down a little.....

the reason i ask this is a friend said 60 was a little warm for that.... (shows 3 green bars on the "tool" though...)

You can never have to many fans I have 3 120s and an 8 and my case is pretty cold especially sense I NEVER turn the heat on as I prefer cold weather. But thats just me. 2 80s might run you MAYBE 20-30 bucks. Just buy them

Case fans are always a good idea, but I recommend getting the Arctic cooling video card fan. I bought one for my ATI x850xtpe, and it lowered my temps from 60 to 44 while playing BF2, and my idle temp is 30. Also, it's absolutely silent, I leave it running at 100% at all times.

60 is fine, as long as thats when you've just come out of a game of some sort. If its 60 when your just running windows or idleing thats pretty bad.
But if you have just played an hour of BF2 and then check your temp, as long as its below 70 your OK. 75 is still technically ok but is pushing it a little bit.

General Rule for buying extra fans and cooling devices is, that you don't need to unless you've overclocked something, the stock fans on GPU's and CPU's etc... are quite capable to handle the heat on the default settings, if you overclock the default settings (particulary voltages) thats when you need extra cooling measures.

This may be true, but I would much prefer a silent more efficient fan on my video card than the stock one. Some of the stock fans are just horrible.

noise is a different issue, and i do agree with you in some cases but i have a MSI 6800 with a stock fan and the temperatures are just fine and the noise is next to silent, the only things that cause noise on my setup are the CPU fan and my front case fan.

Most new cases have fans already in them anyway, but if you have an old case then you may want to put a case fan in near your GPU just to keep it cooler, but you dont have to.

Just a little off topic here, Is anyone buying the new nvidia 7900 at the end of March, that looks like a monster and i don't think i'll be able to resist. It has a clock speed of something like 700 and has a whopping 34 pixel pipelines and 512 mb of ram. Should way in, in excess of £450

Yeah, as said, 60 is fine. I have the same card and at idle right now, it's at 53C and under full load, it hits 62 or so even though I have a Arctic Cooling Silencer on it.

Oh, and my ambient hovers around 43C, so even though my case is way cooler, my GPU is still the same temp as your's, i.e. getting better case cooling won't do too much for ya.

i've got a 6800GT OC, that mofo is at 64 right now IDLE! when i play games, i get a floor fan and blast the shit out of it. i've got the case open, and i can feel the heat just by sitting next to it. my computer cooks! i'm looking into water cooling though...
