So.

Will it stink like ArmA did?

Or not?

Hopefully it won't flop hardcore like ArmA did.

ArmA is the reason why most games aren't realistic.

Realistic shooters look nice but they are just too slow for a BF2-like player.

Honestly those graphics don't look that amazing...
But the graphics were good enough in the first one.
The first one wasn't too bad, free look made things a little weird (you could turn it off though) but I got used to it.

People don't want really realistic games though, they want it to seem realistic but give them the edge to be able to run through guns blazing.
Good "simulator" type games are usually a flop.

Even with as well as Flight Sim X has done, it will never be something most people would play.

I like playing ArmA

I like making missions in the editor, though I never finish them because I'm never satisfied with my work.

And there are numerous addons that make the game awesome.

how did that game get released?  I was so excited when it came out, then my happiness turned to anger at the pos it was.  i mean, did they actually think they were releasing a good game?  did they fool themselves into thinking that or was it a money grab?

I personally enjoy ArmA and can't wait for 2. Sure the campaign was short and not exactly thrilling but I play at Theatre of War and love it, adds another side to the game which is thoroughly entertaining.

"A map the size of 240 square kilometers has been mentioned in a recent interview with a BI representative. ArmA 2 is expected to be released in 2009."

The graphics look amazing too. I might actually be able to be stealthy in a games environment for once.

They'll realise what a stupid comment that is and change it to "2010".

ArmA didn't stink so much as its learning curve was steep. And even after you figured it out, the controls were still herky-jerky.

If ArmA II can retain detail and yet streamline the interface a bit more, it'll be my Battlefield 3.
