More ram would help smooth out the game. A minimum of 1GB would be a good upgrade, 2GB would be very nice. Number 2 on the upgrade list would be a new video card. Geforce 6600GT or RADEON X800 or better.

I'm terrible at math, so please don't ask me to do any currency conversion.

Upgrade Ram to 1GB or GFX card but, with only 200 Pounds I think your best bet is to only upgrade RAM to 1 GB or even 2 GB if you can. Let me do some currency conversions and get back to ya.

Here is 1 GB RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820220060 only 53.8185 Pounds
Here is 2 GB RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820145579 only 93.4643 Pounds
Here is a GFX (6600 AGP) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814121196 only 74.7918 Pounds

Overall, these upgrades (1 GB or 2 GB + GFX) would give you a good experience playing BF2.

if you had the money you'd get way better stuff than that, an AMD FX-60 when it comes out

Well, if he only has 200 pounds, getting such an upgrade would not cut his budget, I assume he is keeping his CPU and Mobo, so AGP for him!
