you mean wearing 30 pounds, played 1 half, a lot of that time on the bench or standing around. The actual time spend 'playing' is like 20 minutes spread over 2 hours. If you can't run full effort for 20 seconds without collapsing on the floor and needing oxygen hits you are unfit by any other sport's standards.phishman420 wrote:

That is because he is a truck. Each position has a certain type of athlete associated with it. His body is built for standing people up straight, not making a 100 yard dash.Aries_37 wrote:

That was my original point. The stop and start nature of american football suits the 300 pound linemen who need time getting on and off the field.Kmarion wrote:

not to mention 300 pound backs who can run twice as fast as you can.Aries_37 wrote:

No, you just don't get it. Especially the each position part. You've obviously never seriously played the game. Your football is pretty much the same thing.. jog jog, start a fight in the stands, jog jog .. long ball! jog zzz jog jog sing a song..jog jog..long ball!Aries_37 wrote:

Yeah, you got me.lol be less butthurt. you were wrong, grow up.
Erm, I understand the sport just fine. I'm not saying they're bad at what they do, or that they're unfit because they're lazy. They are big, strong, agile and skilled at making and shedding blocks. That is what they train to do and that's what they're paid to do. They are however unfit, by any athletic standard.Kmarion wrote:

To say that 50% of the players are out of shape is ridiculous.
Your "athletic standard" is absurd. It ignores little things.. like the actual sport and position they play .Aries_37 wrote:

Please don't come with your american complex, I'm not playing on the fat american stereotype. I'm an american citizen and I prefer american football to most english sports.
I don't have a complex nor have a suggested that you were playing the fat American stereotype. I was defending the sport. This thread is full of people who just stopped in to say American football sucks. It's understandable to be defensive at this point.Kmarion wrote:

Also fitness has nothing to do with the sport. I could be the world's pr0est cybergames athlete (>or insert whatever you consider to be a sport here<), that doesn't make me fit if I can't run 100 yards with some weight without collapsing.
lol.. who's being paranoid.Aries_37 wrote:

Sad, I've grown up watching his games. I was always a fan of him unless the Packers played the Jags. Well we can say that he was always going to go out with a pic but that's how most gunslingers go out.Roc18 wrote:

I just hope he doesn't come out of retirement again and creates a shitload of drama like he did with the Jets.Obiwan wrote:
