The best to me was the genesis, it had a huge selection of titles, herzog zwei the precursor to Total Annihilation sticks out the as well as all of the phantasy star rpgs, yes good times. The best RPG ever on a console is still to this day Phantasy star 1 on the sega master system, took me a freaking year to end of non stop intense play. Sure the game was $80 which was unheard of then but it had a "new"lithium battery in it & it could save 5 games! lolz
Not to discount all of the other consoles though, I can name at least a few great games on each, competition has been very good for the gaming market.
Now PC has taken over, thank goodness.

what do you mean "best"? best games or best hardware? best games or best hardware for its time?
just seems like an invitation to a flame fest...

Hmmmm... I got the most enjoyment out of my NES, SNES, and N64. However, the Dreamcast was fucking dope... Its hard to say.. I would have to pick the SNES though, I STILL play Super Mario World... Shit I got Mario with his yellow cape tattooed on my arm, ha! snapped really quick w/ my iphone...
As far as the PS3, its good but not as good as everyone says it is. I have the 360 and the PS3, and tbh I played MGS4 on my PS3, otherwise it just gets used for movies...

Well, a console is the console itself plus its games line up.hiberNative wrote:

To continue said argument about fable, I got far more hours of gameplay out of that than GTA3 and Vice City combined. San Andreas was brilliant though. Pity number four is such a step backwards.

Im guessing GTA isnt your kind of gameplay then.Flecco wrote:

RPGs are my kinda game and Fable was terrible.
In a world of truly terrible RPG's, Fable excels at not being one of them.Vilham wrote:

GTA was a larger and better-filled world than Fable, but I still think the latter was well fleshed out.Vilham wrote:

You created your character through actions, not by clicking on a menu as is done in almost every other RPG that lets you create a character.
