Hey

I recently upgraded to a ATI 9600XT. Soon as I started using it I noticed severe problems such as my monitor not responding. I researched the card more and foun this is a known issue and it isnt a very stable card

I managed to counter the crashing but reducing the settings in the bios and by playing with toned down graphics. So in turn it wasnt worth me updadting in the first place.

So im gona ebay it and buy a new card. I dont want to spend any more then £70 so I was thinking ofe Nvidia equivelent to my ATI card.

Any suggestions baring in mind my buget?

thanks. Only problem is im looking to see if my motherboard even supports the card i have :S

the problem I have atm is i have to set it from 8X to 4X in my bios, otherwise my monitor stops responding after 30 mins or so.

here,

http://www.foxconnchannel.com/products_ … 661FX7MI-S

"Integrated SiS high-performance graphics controller plus AGP 8X slot
Supports up to 64MB shared system memory"

im not sure if what that means :s

Can anyone tell me what type I card is compatable?

Kind regards!

I dont think that is the exact mobo since I know mine dont have onboard graphics. I know its one of the 3 of that model, dont know what one

The board does suxxorz though

So looking at the mobo spec, can I only use gfx cards upto 64mb?

I wouldnt know how to change the board myself so i would have to pay a specialst

Edit - Wow, didnt realise a mobo was that cheap! maybe i will update, worth it in the long run i guess

err, have a look round in bios. Also in ctrl panel/system/device manager

or you could right click on desktop/properties/settings/advanced/adapter and make sure it is using the radion

Your video is REALLY holding back your system from being very decent.

yep, using the Radeon.

So now I am guessing my card is not compatable with my mobo

which means I have to update that if I am to get a better video card :@

I also could use some help. I'm currently running a GeForce 6200 card "256 Mb" but I can't play on medium or high settings without problems. Any suggestions on a better card. Huge problem for me is that I have AGP not PCIE slot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok, ive finally decided im goin to get,

Asus P5VD1-X mobo
2x 1GB of Crucial RAM

but keep my ATI 9600XT and see how it goes but will upgrade to PCI-E if im still not happy

Looking to spend around £120 on a PCI-E card when the time comes.

all of this with my P4 3000 should run fairly well, I hope.

I have another 9600xt with a Asus mobo on another PC. With 1 GB of crucial RAM and it gets better fps and less glitchyness then my PC, with the foxconn mobo.

only worry is I dont know how to install the mobo myself. So im goin to have to go to my local computer store. Im hoping he will install it all in exchange for some of my old RAM
