I was just thinking today, Why did Nintendo never try to port Ocarina of Time on to the DS. They ported Mario 64 so I don't see how OOT would be any different. I dunno I was just wondering if anyone knew the details

Nintendo can make a game about burning orphans and so long as it has Mario is it, the thing will sell >5 million copies.

I'd buy it but still with that in mind, if nintendo can make any game with a first party character and sell millions... then why didn't they remake OOT?

Because Nintendo these days is run by mindless fools.

If they weren't we'd not only have OOT remakes, but games like F-Zero DS, Goldeneye etc

We have goldeneye but I don't see why one of their most popular games isn't remade, it bothers me

EA's game is not Goldeneye.

Nintendo just don't like publishing proper games anymore I guess. An OOT re-make would sell like hotcakes. But they just want to push their non-game crap on everyone instead.

I started liking them less and less as soon as the Wii was released with a too-high price and a complete lack of good games to get.

I almost bought one as well. I'm so glad I didn't.

EA's version of Goldeneye was shit because Bond died (I never knew if he was alive again because I only finished the first level and never played again because it was shit)

K. Guys, Goldeneye64 can't be re-released on anything without the big rubber stamp of EA approval as they own the rights to Bond.

As for an F-Zero and OoT port... Yeah, fuck them. I'd buy a DS if they would do that shit. Seriously. That would be two doses of epic win in a fucking box.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Come on guys, think of the controls. It doesn't pan out, at all. Mario is move, jump, crouch. Zelda you need move, A, B, full c controls (okay, well maybe not Navi) plus the shoulder buttons. Personally I didn't think Phantom Hourglass felt like a Zelda game at all because of the controls, and I would be disappointed if they released anything but a perfect port of such a great game.

I guess you're right, I bet they had a discussion over at nintendo about the controls. But I bet they could keel a and B and only have 2 weapons to be selected instead of 3 (i.e. all handheld zeldas) sure it wouldn't be exactly the same but it can be done

My thoughts exactly, hard to transfer the controls over properly, Mario 64 was alot easier as it was a simple platformer at heart.

move with touch screen, tap it to jump/move up on ledge.

directional pads replace the C buttons (slingshot, bomb, longshot, etc)

This coming from someone who has clearly never played Zelda, because if he had he would know that THERE IS ONLY AUTO JUMP.

Movement with the touch screen is balls. I played through all of Super Mario 64 DS moving with the D pad because I was much more precise with it than moving with the touch screen, not to mention the ergonomics of holding that little pen in one hand while closely trying to use the buttons with the other. The touchscreen aspect is one of my least favorite in LOZ:PH as well.

Also, remember you have to use both shoulder buttons (if you're using L for target and R for shield, there's definitely no Z on the DS) and that means you have to do it funny with your index finger.

I was skeptical of PH at first, but it felt like Zelda in the end. Unfortunately, anything with that nagging fairy can kiss my ass and suck Link to the Past's old hairy balls.
