emilia's one of those kinds of movies that sits at a bland 75%ish on RT but got dumped on by viewer scores. it seems like one of those things so far out of some people's interests but they'll go hate-watch it anyway just so they can write about how much they hated it. like the live-action disney cartoons. i get it if you're a movie reviewer, but otherwise just don't see it? easy, right? to the gents (urgh) who "have to see this stuff" with their girlfriends, i'm sure plenty of women sit through exhausting repeats of men's shows. suck it up.
i still haven't seen girlbusters, for instance. the trailer didn't hook me, so i didn't watch the movie. imagine that. the one with the ghost of egon was alright, but getting the old crew back together even briefly may have stole the thunder from the new characters. you wonder why they weren't more centric to the story if they were bringing them back anyway (the ghostbusters game is probably the true ghostbusters 3, if that's what people want. but the target audience is consequently even more niche for it being a game).
continued lifelong Hard Pass on cats '19, and satisfied with that. the trailer was ugly and the effects are ugly and the design choices are like, why. so i didn't watch it. imo they should have just made them cats, or just done a stageplay without weird cgi obscuring or distracting from their actors' performances. i have about as much interest in creating an account somewhere to leave a bad rating of cats '19 as i do kicking a rusty nail protruding from a rotting woodshed.
some of this stuff is within my interest. ghostbusters and musicals have a nostalgic connection to my childhood, and i watched old cats with family and thought it was whimsical, weird, but okay enough. the whole genre of unironic, exhaustive youtube rantvids about "bad movies" that they keep seeing over and over again and making part 2s and 3s of befuddle me. this isn't including industry commentary from music people or effects people, just the average joe who bemoaned live Little Mermaid ruining his childhood or whatever to get their back slapped in the dudebro echo chamber. like, just…Don't Watch It.
tl;dr: stop watching movies you hate?
ps: hoi is in some serious need of qol and streamlining. for a game about maps and statistics and logistics, it is a complete and utter mess. even the ai doesn't know what to do, let alone with the dlc. if you "observe" one it's going to quickly have like mk 173 of a slight adjustment to a tank, and indecisively keep changing it all the time. stop messing with it! stuff like that explains why you have to wear so many hats in hoi. the ai's flaws would become much more apparent if more players watched its inner workings.
there are a lot of mods that fix a number of stuff, but that didn't really help players like you who just want to play ironman to *shuffles papers* submit their stats to paradox forums(?).
try some rimworld, mac, if you haven't. you might enjoy it? its pixel characters have some of the weird sort of interpersonal stories like ones you post about from your own life. i bet there's an anxiety moodle for proximity to a girlfriend's ex.
