When backburner had +25hp and Flamethrower had no airblast it was a no brainer using backburner 24/7

And by "nerf" i meant the modifier added to the gun to balance whichever new feature it has over the stock shotgun...

I'm not saying it shouldn't have any, they should just keep it "fair" and not ubernerf it like they've managed to do with the direct hit rocket launcher which is near-useless...

ok fist of all the airblast was added at the same time as the pyro update second the backburner has always been shit.

Protip: The flamethrower DIDN'T have airblast when the backburner was released...

Currently the backburner is awesome with it's +25% damage, if you flank a team you can kill a shitton of heavy+medics before they can turn and fire at you...

Protip yes it did. Airblast and backburner were added in the same update. And yes the backburner turned the pyro into a tank. 225 HP and no damage falloff. It was absurd.

Well actually...

First the Flamethrower's damage was cut by 20% and the Backburner didn't get anything. Then they added 20% damage to backburner. Thus backburner was back at 96% damage. Then they increased the base damage by 10% (80% -> 88%) but also reduced the damage bonus of backburner to 15% taking the backburner to 101,2% damage before the first reduction.

So yeah it has only +15% damage which only makes it a tad bit better than it was before. And the damage boost isn't really worth losing airblast for. And spy is more effective at flanking anyways.
