Ya, AMD yesterday introduced their FX-60 Dual Core CPU Chip. It is currently the most expensive and powerful chip AMD ever made. Running on a 2.6 GHZ Toledo (OC'ed X2), it has a lot of power. Also, according to both anandtech and tom's hardware, the chip is leading almost every catagory in first, owning the newly released 65nm Intel EE 955. Also in games, it is also in the top first and second, just a few fps short against the FX-57 in DOOM 3 and BF2, so gaming in terms of this dual-core is good.
But this might be the end to the 939 Socket FX, X2 and 64 line, with the 60 as the last flagship chip. AMD is currently working on a new socket mobo that now supports the much awaited DDR2 SDRAM slots and make their 3rd generation Athlon 64 CPU's by putting the X2, 64 and FX lines into 65 nm dies technology, take that Intel!!!, and the FX utilizing that technology would probably all dual-core, so the FX 57 would be the last single-core in the FX line.
The FX-60 would not last long as once the new mobos are released late this year, they would also release the FX-62 Dual Core, which is just the same as a 60 but using 65 nm technology and DDR2 Memory.
Currently: the FX-60 is at 1000 dollars US and the 57 is at 860 dollars 860.
